meet: Dane Coyle, MBA

Dane Coyle - Fiduciary Financial Advisor

Engineers don’t hope things work. We plan so they do.
That’s how I approach investing—by building strategies that stay strong, even when the market doesn’t.

I’m a licensed Professional Engineer and an MBA graduate from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, with nearly two decades of experience in civil engineering and a deep passion for long-term, thoughtful investing. My practice is designed for engineers, professionals, business owners, and families who value clarity, risk awareness, and durable financial strategies—whether you’re building wealth or preserving it.

Before joining Fiduciary Financial Advisors, I managed large-scale municipal infrastructure projects and served as a local municipal director of operations for a leading environmental engineering firm. These roles sharpened my instincts for capital allocation, systems thinking, and risk management—skills I now apply to financial planning and investment management for my clients.

I didn’t stumble into investing. After years of self-education, formal study, and portfolio management, I chose to pursue my MBA mid-career to strengthen my skillset in the world of finance and business. I enjoy learning from some of the world’s top investors and advisors, and I often reference timeless lessons from the greats of investing, including Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Howard Marks and so many others. I believe in the timeless idea that it’s cheaper to learn from others’ mistakes than your own—and usually less painful.

I focus on selecting only the highest quality businesses for myself and my client’s portfolios, with strong fundamentals and disciplined capital allocation. My goal is to build resilient, stress-tested financial plans and portfolios that align with your life goals—grounded in clarity and a margin of safety, not fast paced trends, hot tips or shortcuts.

I live in El Dorado Hills, California, with my wife and two children. Outside of work, I enjoy road cycling, international travel, giving back to our local community—and being regularly humbled by the game of golf—my favorite hobby and lifelong teacher. I’ll admit also that I genuinely enjoy spending my downtime with investing audiobooks and back testing my latest stock investment ideas. This is often times my idea of entertainment instead of Netflix.
