meet: John Bussey
Hi, I’m John
My first job, at the age of sixteen, was washing dishes at a YMCA camp in Northern Minnesota. Now, 25 years on, I have worked almost exclusively for community and youth development nonprofit organizations—as a frontline service provider, program director, development officer, marketing manager, and business operations director. Over those years, I was struck by the challenges nonprofits face in managing their investable reserves—and the incredible opportunities available to those that do it well.
Motivated in particular by the financial difficulties encountered by two nonprofit organizations I cared about, I reached out to a close friend who is also a financial advisor. That conversation led to more great connections and, eventually, to my earning my Series 65 so I could join Fiduciary Financial Advisors—not only to work with individuals, but also to help nonprofits, cooperatives, and other mission- and cause-centric organizations set themselves up for long-term impact.
As a Financial Advisor, I support board and staff leadership in building investment plans and policies, facilitate allocation and vehicle decision-making, manage portfolios, serve as a resource to leaders, and develop and implement stakeholder communication and education strategies. Beyond my work with my own clients—and equally importantly—I support my teammates at Fiduciary Financial Advisors in serving their nonprofit clients to the highest standard.
I live in Minneapolis, just a stone’s throw from the mighty Mississippi, with my amazing wife, Andrea, and our two incredible boys, Nikesh and Anand.
